Through live narration and Robert Service poetry, you’ll step into the lives of the railroad workers, lumbermen, and sailors who built this frontier town. With three drinks included throughout, the experience blends history, atmosphere, and performance to create something immersive, memorable, and uniquely Tacoma.
The evening begins inside the historic Olympus Hotel building, where you’ll enjoy your choice of a cocktail, beer, or wine at The Forum while learning how Tacoma transformed from a rough railroad outpost into the “City of Destiny.” From there, we step onto Pacific Avenue and follow the path of Whiskey Row, uncovering stories of saloons, vice districts, and the larger-than-life characters who once filled these streets. As we move between stops, the city’s past unfolds in the very spaces where it happened, creating a strong sense of connection between history and place.
Along the way, storytelling and poetry continue to shape the experience, bringing both the grit and humor of Tacoma’s early days to life. We’ll explore the unique interior of the remarkable McMenamins Elks Temple, where you’ll enjoy your second drink while moving through its hidden corners and layered spaces before continuing the journey.
The experience concludes at Odd Otter, Tacoma’s most whimsical brewery, where you’ll enjoy your final drink in a relaxed, social setting. To close out the evening, guests take part in a lighthearted, lumber camp–inspired game—an unexpected and memorable finish that captures the spirit of the frontier and leaves the group with a shared story of their own.
